I'm a native Texan living in Minnesota. No matter how long I'm away from Texas I always say I'm from Texas. You can take the girl out of Texas but you can't take Texas out of the girl.
I moved from Texas to Minnesota 12-years-ago to start my new life with my husband. We just celebrated our 10th anniversary. The past 10 years have been so fast. Dan is my best friend, my soul mate, a wonderful husband and amazing father to our son. He also tolerates and has grown to love our dogs, more about that later.
We enjoy camping, hiking, trips to Texas, car races, Cub Scouts, and animals. We all love roller coasters, zoos, parks, remote trails for hiking and bonfires. My husband and son love cars even if it's the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby car. It doesn't matter much if we ride our bikes through the state park or play kick ball in our yard as long as we are doing things as a family.
We (mostly me) are country people. I love living out of the city. I enjoy being surrounded by woods. We all enjoy watching the Deer and wild Turkeys wonder into our yard. Our son has learned so much about nature because it's in his back yard. We are living here because I manage a kennel for dogs and cats. I'm the resident manager so we have to live on the premises.
My Husband Dan - Racing according to plan - He is fondly known as the racing encyclopedia.Dan is a professional stock car race fan. He owns a local stock car racing newspaper. Weekends from April - October are spent at race tracks. He is known as the racing encyclopedia because of his vast knowledge and love of the sport. I don't feel the same passion for racing but love the people we meet through the sport. Yes that's Jeff Gordon with Dan and Matthew.
Dan's day job is working with computers, I think it's called IT. I've been out of Corporate America long enough to not know a lot of proper terms. Anyway Dan enjoys computers and the people he works with. He is passionately working on his racing paper and has built a large loyal following with it.
Our Son Matthew - Matt the brat -
Our 9-year-old son was named after the racecar driver, Matt Kenseth. That's where "the brat" part comes from. Matthew isn't a brat, well not much. He is following in his dad's footsteps with the racing passion. He's well known at the local tracks, has been a track photographer, has done the invocation several times and has ridden in many race cars. He's our little celebrity among our race friends.
He races his BMX bike at the only indoor track in Minnesota. He loves it and it's a fun family outing. I don't worry to much about him getting hurt because he's very cautious, thanks to me being over-protective of him.
Matthew is an animal lover, especially cats. He wants to be a cat trainer when he grows up but only if his racing career doesn't work. I'm holding my thoughts about the racing thing, maybe he will outgrown it. He loves school, camping, and Cub Scouts. He loves going to Texas to visit his family and friends. He's an only child but not spoiled, not too much anyway.
About Robin - The Dog LadyI'm a healthy pet nut. I've been an animal lover, especially dogs all my life. In my free time I help at my local humane society. I work with dogs and cats every day at the kennel.
We share our home with 2 dogs, a cat, two birds and 4 frogs. The dogs are Shelties. My best girl Tara died March 2, 2008. She was 18 years, 15 days old when she crossed over to the rainbow bridge. The other two dogs, our cat and the birds are all rescue animals. My animals are a major part of my life, I just love them so much.
I've been a full time work from home mom since our son was 2-years-old. I love being home with him and watching him grow into my little man. There will come a time when he won't care to spend time with me. Now he still wants me around so I wouldn't trade that for anything. I love being a mom.
Matthew calls me a health nut because I'm so passionate about learning how to eat healthier so we stay healthy. I'm an affiliate with Whole Food Nation a company that manufactures a whole food multi (supplement). This product fits my "health nut" standards and has been great fun marketing.
Our family is like most American families. We are busy and on the go a lot. We love each other and always have time to say "I love you." My life revolves around family and I couldn't love it more.
